Other very common techniques used in microfabrication for microfluidics include soft lithography, which involves the use of elastomeric materials such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to create microchannels and other structures from a template, and micromachining, which involves the use of micromechanical tools or focused ion beam/laser to etch structures on a substrate. In addition to these established techniques, there are also several emerging technologies such as 3D printing.

Overall, microfabrication plays a critical role in the development of microfluidic devices, enabling the creation of complex structures and systems that can be used for a wide range of applications in fields such as biotechnology, pharmacy, chemistry, medicine and others.
