FluidLab protoplast isolation kit with enzyme mix, enzyme buffer and gradient buffer

What's inside

Three prepared components, one cleaner workflow

The kit includes the core reagents and a visual bench protocol for a consistent digestion and purification workflow. One kit supports up to 50 standard isolations.

Enzyme mix, enzyme buffer and gradient buffer included in the FluidLab kit

Enzyme mix

Pre-weighed cellulase and macerozyme blend in optimized ratios for efficient cell wall digestion.

Enzyme buffer

Osmotically balanced digestion buffer with pre-adjusted pH for high protoplast viability.

Gradient buffer

Purification buffer for cleaner separation of intact protoplasts from debris and undigested tissue.

~20 min preparation time
1

Dissolve enzymes

Reconstitute the pre-weighed enzyme mix.

2

Filter

Prepare a clean enzyme solution using standard filtration.

3

Freeze

Aliquot and store for predictable use in future experiments.

Proof and data

Higher yield with fewer preparation variables

In lettuce leaf workflows, the pre-optimized kit improved recovered protoplast yield compared with freshly prepared DIY enzyme solutions while keeping viability in the range required for downstream transformation and analysis.

Bar chart showing higher recovered protoplast yield with the FluidLab kit compared with a DIY method

Average recovered protoplast yield per 1 g of lettuce leaf tissue across representative mesophyll isolations.

FAQ

Common questions

Compatibility and performance

Which plant species can the kit be used with?

The kit is designed for plant protoplast isolation workflows across species. Tissue preparation, digestion time and other protocol parameters may need optimization for each species and tissue type. The performance data shown on this page come from lettuce leaf tissue.

Which downstream techniques are supported?

Protoplasts isolated with the kit are intended for transient transformation, regeneration workflows, microscopy, viability assays, bulk transcriptomics and single-cell preparation.

What is the typical digestion time?

Digestion time depends on the species, tissue condition and experimental setup. For lettuce leaf mesophyll, the workflow typically runs between 3 and 6 hours.

Technical specifications and storage

How many isolations does one kit support?

One kit supports up to 50 standard isolations.

Are filters, tubes and dishes included?

No. The kit is designed to work with standard sterile syringe filters, tubes, dishes and pipette tips already used in plant cell biology labs.

How is the kit stored and shipped?

The entire kit is shipped at room temperature. The kit has a 6-month shelf life when stored as recommended, and reconstituted enzyme solution can be aliquoted and frozen for repeated use.
